About the Thunderbird

Ford introduced the two-seat Thunderbird for 1955 as an upscale, sporty alternative to the Chevrolet Corvette, marketed not as a sports car but as a new kind of "personal luxury car." Ford built a little over 15,600 Thunderbirds for 1956, one of just 53,166 built across the entire 1955-1957 two-seat generation.
