The McDonnell Douglas A-4C Skyhawk is a single-seat attack aircraft developed for the United States Navy. It was first introduced in 1956 and served as a primary attack aircraft for the Navy and Marine Corps until the late 1970s. The A-4C was a variant of the A-4 Skyhawk family, which was a compact, lightweight, and versatile aircraft designed for close air support and ground attack missions. The aircraft was powered by a single Pratt & Whitney J52 turbojet engine and had a maximum speed of over 600 mph. It was armed with a variety of weapons, including bombs, rockets, and missiles, and was equipped with a cockpit that was both simple and easy to operate. The A-4C was widely used during the Vietnam War, where it became known for its versatility and ability to carry out a variety of missions. Despite being retired from active service, the A-4 Skyhawk remains a popular aircraft for military and civilian operations, including airshows and training exercises. General Characteristics, Armament, & Performance details are located inside the flap of the box.
