The A-10 Thunderbolt II also known as the Warthog is a ground attack aircraft designed by Fairchild Republic for the U.S. Air Force. Introduced in 1977 the A-10 was built for close air support (CAS) missions primarily targeting enemy tanks armored vehicles and ground troops. Its rugged design features a powerful 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger cannon which is capable of destroying heavy armor. The aircraft's heavily armored cockpit and redundant systems ensure its survivability in hostile environments.
