Used in bombing operations over Japan throughout the spring and summer of 1945 the Bockscar — a B-29 Superfortress delivered to the USAAF in March of that year — is most recognizable as the aircraft that dropped the Fat Man atomic bomb over Nagasaki on August 9 1945. The mission was the second and last nuclear attack in history.
