The EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft developed by Boeing for the United States Navy. Derived from the F/A-18F Super Hornet it combines advanced avionics with powerful electronic attack capabilities. Introduced in the late 2000s the Growler is powered by two General Electric F414 turbofan engines and can reach speeds approaching Mach 1.8. Its primary mission is to disrupt deceive or disable enemy radar and communication systems using the ALQ-218 receiver system and ALQ-99 or Next Generation Jammer pods. The aircraft can also carry AGM-88 HARM and AARGM missiles to suppress enemy air defenses. With a crew of one pilot and one electronic warfare officer the EA-18G provides critical support to strike packages ensuring air superiority in contested environments worldwide today.
