About the Humvee
Fielded by U.S. forces from the 1980s onward, the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, or Humvee, provided troop mobility across rough and urban terrain and could mount a turret-fired heavy machine gun. Humvees were used extensively by U.S. Army Rangers and special operations forces during the October 1993 Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia.
