About the A-6 Intruder
Developed by Grumman for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, the A-6 Intruder was a twin-engine, all-weather attack aircraft that entered service in the early 1960s. Its advanced navigation and attack systems let crews deliver bomb loads accurately in poor weather and at night, and the type saw extensive combat during the Vietnam War and later conflicts before being retired from front-line service in the late 1990s. The KA-6D was a dedicated aerial-refueling tanker variant of the Intruder airframe.
