About the MiG-25 Foxbat
Developed by Mikoyan-Gurevich in the 1960s, the MiG-25 is a Soviet-built supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft capable of exceeding Mach 3.2 and operating above 70,000 feet, built primarily with a stainless-steel airframe to withstand the heat of sustained high-speed flight. It was designed to counter high-altitude threats such as the U.S. SR-71 Blackbird and strategic bombers, and though its maneuverability was limited, its speed, altitude and firepower made it a formidable Cold War-era interceptor.
