About the Figure
Loading a muzzle-loading musket required ramming the powder and ball firmly down the barrel with a metal ramrod before the rod was withdrawn and stowed for the next shot. This figure captures a soldier of Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's army performing that step during the 1836 siege of the Alamo.
