Its most notable contribution came during the Battle of Midway, where Dauntless bombers played a decisive role in sinking four Japanese aircraft carriers. Powered by a Wright R-1820 engine, the Dauntless could carry up to 1,200 pounds of bombs. With its rugged design and exceptional accuracy, the SBD-4 became a key weapon in the Pacific Theater.
