The second and final Alaska-Class cruiser the USS Guam (CB-2) was not commissioned until late in the war September 1944. She participated in the Okinawa campaign in the following spring and summer providing anti-aircraft defense. She also assisted in the occupation of Korea following the war and was ultimately scrapped in May 1961.
